Ammolite

Ammolite originates from ammonites, which are an extinct species of mollusk. Known for its vibrant opal-like flash, this rare gemstone is made from fossilized shells and aragonite being subjected to high pressures over millions of years. Mostly found and mined near the Rocky Mountains in Canada. The most common flashes of color are red and green and rarer colors are blue, gold and purples. These specimens are a spectacular vibrant green with flashes of orange, red, and gold. Since the actual ammonite is naturally very thin they are backed with a black stone for support. Ammolite is a delicate substance that requires lots of care as it was once a living organism millions of years ago!

All measure around 1 inch in length.

While we have made our best attempt to represent the color of our gemstones as accurately as possible, differences in lighting, screen resolution, and screen color balance may affect the appearance of gemstones pictured. Please inquire if you would like more information or photos of a gemstone.
