This beautiful pendant is composed of a Roman Republic coin circa 147 AD framed in sterling silver enhanced by an oval bezel set garnet. The coin is an example of the Roman silver Denarius, the most commonly produced coin in the empire. The front of the coin depicts the head of the goddess Roma, wearing a winged helmet, while the back offers a representation of the biga, a two-horsed chariot.
